Daniel Miyares

Daniel Miyares is a children’s books author and illustrator who resides in Kansas, USA. His first book collaboration was with musician Neil Sedaka, Waking up is Hard to Do — an adaptation of one of his songs.

Daniel has been called “…a master of visual storytelling.Jody Hewston, Kinderlit, and “…enchanting, versatile” — The New York Times.

His latest release is his most personal project; How to Say Goodbye in Cuban is a graphic novel/memoir about his father’s family life in Cuba, set in the early 1950s, leading up to Fidel Castro’s revolution to overthrow Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Daniel generously shares much of the development of the graphic novel — from post-it notes to character sketches to final art. If you’re a fan of the art form of comics, you’re in for a treat.
