Marina Collard
Marina Collard is a British-Italian artist based in London, who works in a range of media including choreography, painting, video and performance. Her work is site-responsive, emerging directly from her observations of public and private spaces and the manner in which they are inhabited. Marina’s interest in human relationships and the environment — whether urban or natural — is expressed via the intimate abstraction within her images.
I was interested in Marina’s multiple ways of working and how the process of making might differ whether the project was a performance, or a painting. We chatted about her recent solo exhibition : While Here – Mentre Sono Qui at Fondazione Ricci Barca (LU) in Italy, and Torno subito / back soon, a performance at an outdoor market (shown at left) that puzzled or pleased many passers-by.
I regret that there isn’t a replay for this chat. It was plagued with technical issues: there was no video for the broadcast and it wasn’t recorded.
