Mick Chippington
Mick Chippington is a set builder / modelmaker / puppet rigger based in London. Mick has one of those seemingly “cool jobs” – he has crafted sets and models for many animated films, including Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie, and Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr Fox and Isle of Dogs. Mick also worked on live action projects such as Max Le Film, Asteroid City, and the Roald Dahl shorts for Netflix such as The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.
Hear how Mick got into this creative industry and what it’s like to make stuff and be part of the magic of film and animation. Mick shares some sets from a recent Dr Oetker gingerbread advert (at left).
Also, “Wes Anderson: The Archives,” a retrospective of the director’s career, is on view at the Design Museum in London from November 26 – July 26. If you’re in London, you can see some of the objects that Mick has made in person.
